In an initiative that is the first of its kind in years, and with the aim of reviving volunteer work that disappeared from Palestinian society for various reasons, some of which are intended and others are not, the new Popular Committee in Aida camp organized a voluntary day to clean the cemetery of the Bilal bin Rabah Mosque, which is what the camp’s people are accustomed to in its institutions and organizations. His national framework has been doing over the years in the past decade and has been absent in recent years.
In this context, dozens of young people from the camp gathered and organized the passages between the graves. They also organized the roofs of the graves that collected the remains of trees from years ago, in addition to burning all the weeds and weeds, and organizing the entrances to the cemetery to be ready to receive the citizens who visit the graves of their relatives to read the Qur’an on them in one day Eid .
Saeed Al-Azza, head of the Popular Committee for Aida camp services, said that this day comes at the invitation of the Popular Committee for Services and the camp’s factions and institutions, which approved a number of popular events and activities, extending Eid congratulations to the people of Bethlehem Governorate.
Al-Azza indicated that the committee called for a meeting of the camp’s institutions, where many topics were discussed, such as cleaning the cemetery, visiting the families of martyrs and prisoners, organizing voluntary activities, including cleaning the Islamic cemetery and the camp’s streets, as well as paying attention to the school year at the beginning of the school year after the holidays.
Al-Azza indicated that the cleaning activities included cleaning the cemetery and its various facilities, including corridors and graves, in addition to removing weeds, in preparation for receiving citizens who come to visit the graves of their dead, praising the cooperation of the various parties and activists that participated in the activities of the first volunteer day in the cemetery. The Popular Committee and the Fatah movement in the camp and the Bethlehem municipality, which cooperated with the Popular Committee, expressing his hope that this work will be the beginning of more work to unify the camp and its efforts to serve our people.
For his part, Adnan Al-Ajarmeh, a member of the camp’s Popular Committee and the official of the Health and Environment Department in the committee, said that this day of voluntary work aims to clean the Islamic cemetery to receive Eid al-Adha so that the citizen finds a clean place commensurate with the sanctity of the place. The work comes as a first to work in the camp by the Popular Committee in the camp after the elections, which seeks to unify the various efforts.
He pointed out that voluntary work is present within the citizens, pointing out that voluntary work has disappeared as a result of some matters and interventions by some official and unofficial authorities, as these authorities have tried to kill the spirit of volunteerism in the camp.
He pointed out that volunteer work exists and that the national psyche is present within the Palestinian generations, explaining that as soon as an invitation is made through social networking sites, we find dozens of young people coming to participate in this day.

He pointed out that the volunteer work represented in cleaning the Islamic cemetery carries multiple and different meanings, the most important of which is striving to preserve the cemetery as well as providing comfort for the citizen who will visit the cemetery, which has been largely neglected in recent years.
Abu Sorour added that the Popular Committee invites all camp residents to participate in the activities, especially volunteer work, explaining that the volunteer work aims to serve the camp, noting that the new committee will be set up to activate the unitary work in the camp and activate all groups, especially the youth, to serve their community, appreciating the cooperation of all parties and young people who are present today to clean the cemetery. Islamic.
For his part, Muhammad Lutfi, Secretary of the Fatah movement in the camp and official of the Media Committee of the Popular Committee, said that this event is a first step to consolidate and unify the efforts of the camp’s residents and to attract young people in it to issues of volunteer work that serve the camp at various levels, in addition to emphasizing that Aida camp was and still is a model of struggle. Unitary on more than one level, whether political or social, where the camp was and still is an incubator for the Palestinian national struggle and will remain so despite all attempts to target.
Lotfi pointed out that the camp took a new start after the election of the Popular Committee, and there will be other steps and measures towards unifying the camp and strengthening its steadfastness and the steadfastness of its people, explaining that the Popular Committee approved its last meeting in the presence of representatives of the factions and active institutions in the camp, a series of steps towards strengthening the spirit of volunteer and national work, as well as striving to strengthen The various institutions and combating any negative phenomena in cooperation with the relevant authorities and ministries in order to protect the camp.
Lutfi expressed his confidence in the camp’s Popular elections to restore life to volunteer work, as well as seeking to restore and strengthen the camp’s cultural life through the cooperation of various institutions and factions.
