Local products and heritage atmosphere: A bazaar to market the products of women entrepreneurs at Aida Camp to strengthen resilience

Bethlehem / PNN / The Women’s Center in Aida Camp, in cooperation with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the Project for Improving Camp Conditions in the Department of Refugee Affairs in Beit Jala 2, along with the Palestinian Media Authority, organized the popular bazaar for homemade products titled ‘Local Products and Unforgettable Traditional Atmosphere’ to activate the role of youth in Beit Jala. The bazaar activities were held in the hall of the Popular Committee for Services, in the presence of Nader Faraj, Director General of the Department of Refugee Affairs in the Palestine Liberation Organization; Bassam Abu Sarour, a member of the Popular Committee in the camp; Marwan Al-Farraja, Secretary of the Fatah Movement in the camp; Ghada Ameera, Head of the Women’s Center, and center members; Shatha Al-Izza, Coordinator of the Beit Jala Project in the camps of the southern West Bank; Hatem Abu Zaid, Project Coordinator in Beit Jala; and Raed Ameera, Director of the Relief and Social Services Department at UNRWA in the Bethlehem area.

The bazaar was inaugurated with welcoming speeches delivered by Bassam Abu Surour, a member of the Popular Committee for Services in the camp, where he welcomed the attendees, including organizers and participants in the bazaar featuring various traditional products.Abu Surour pointed out that the Popular Committee in the camp represents a unifying home and a nurturing body for all the camp residents and its activities. From this perspective, the Popular Committee takes pride in hosting this event as a form of support and backing for the Women’s Center and the pioneering women in the camp, wishing success for the events of the bazaar.For his part, Marwan Al-Farraja, Secretary of the Fatah Movement in the camp, expressed his pride in this bazaar highlighting the creativity and achievements of Palestinian women in the camp, who have been, still are, and will continue to be a partner in the struggle and in strengthening the resilience of Palestinian families. He emphasized Fatah’s support in the camp for women’s projects that they take pride in, noting that he witnessed outstanding traditional, agricultural, woven, and embroidered products in the camp.
