Bethlehem Governorate Governor Kamel Hamid agreed with the activities, institutions and factions of Aida camp, in the presence of the directors of the security services in the governorate, to launch a campaign to combat negative phenomena in the camp, on top of which is the fight against drugs, illegal vehicles and bicycles, in addition to agreeing to discuss working on a plan for development and creating job opportunities in the camp according to the priorities and necessary needs. Which will be developed in partnership between the activities of the camp and the province.
This came during a meeting held at the governorate headquarters between the camp’s activities represented by the Popular Committee and its chairman Saeed Al-Azza, members of the Popular Committee, representatives of the factions, headed by Fatah and the Popular Front, and representatives of various institutions, in the presence of the Secretary of Fatah Bethlehem Region Muhammad al-Masri, Director of the General Intelligence Service, Brigadier Salim al-Qaisi and Deputy Director The National Security Forces in Bethlehem, Colonel Jamal Odeh, and the Deputy Director of the Palestinian Police Service in Bethlehem, Colonel Halahleh Club. The meeting discussed the latest developments in the camp and the measures to be taken to combat negative manifestations, some of which come within the framework of the policy of deliberate targeting of the camp and the young generation in it.
At the beginning of the meeting, Governor Hamid welcomed the attendees and stressed that Aida camp was and remains and remains a stronghold of struggle and a symbol of steadfastness and defiance, like the rest of the refugee camps, recalling the history of the national and revolutionary movement in the sixties, seventies and eighties, where the camp was the title of struggle, resistance and challenge, stressing that it is our duty to all Preserving it and ensuring that it remains one of the fortresses of the revolution and struggle targeted by the enemies of our people and our national cause.
Governor Hamid stressed that all efforts by the authority, factions, events, institutions, and camp residents should focus on preserving the sanctity and value of the camp, stressing the readiness of the authority with all its arms and devices to work for the camp through coordination with the camp’s activities and institutions, headed by the Popular Committee for Services.
Governor Hamid also stressed the readiness of all official bodies to start a campaign to confront all negative phenomena, especially the targeted camps as symbols and as citizens, stressing that the Palestinian leadership will make every effort to preserve their political value.
Governor Hamid said: “We are ready for immediate steps, the first of which is immediate steps through procedures and steps represented by the arrest of a group accused of drug trafficking and drug use, in addition to long and long-term steps represented in starting a development plan in the camp without compromising its value and legal status to preserve the right of return, indicating that security will follow up. Its procedures and all of it question marks.
Hamid stressed that the drug phenomenon is a new and increasing phenomenon, not only in the camps, but in all the Palestinian areas. Within a series, there are extraneous phenomena within the targeting of our people, especially the young generation.
Governor Hamid stressed that the phenomenon of illegal cars and bikes is not innocent and harms the Palestinian economy and the Palestinian citizen and aims to strike security, noting that the campaign will include any negative appearance.
Governor Hamid also valued the initiative and visit of the camp’s activities in order to combat negative phenomena, which reflects the keenness and affiliation of the camp, which was the initiating camp and the center for graduating fighters over the years of struggle, stressing the importance of cooperation and partnership between the various events, factions, agencies and ministries concerned, as the bodies began work before this meeting.
The camp’s activities had put Governor Hamid in a picture of the recent developments in the camp, especially the last week, when a campaign was launched by the camp’s factions and activities to confront the drug phenomenon that targets the camp and its best sons and youth in a clear and intentional targeting by the Israeli occupation, stressing that it will not and will not be tolerated. With any individual proven to be involved in any negative aspect, especially drugs and its promotion.
Saeed Al-Azza, head of the Popular Committee in the camp, welcomed Governor Hamid’s assumption of his position as governor of Bethlehem, explaining that this appointment will contribute to solving many problems, given that Governor Hamid Ibn Bethlehem knows their details and will work to solve any problems, stressing that the committee, events and institutions in the camp are fully prepared to cooperate with him and with Any party expresses its concern for the camp and will work to protect its children, especially since the extent of the targeting is clear and its source is known.
Al-Ezza pointed out that the national factions, the Popular Committee and public institutions, and with them all the benefactors and those who are keen on the future of our children, are demanding today the security services to continue and complete their work in pursuing drug traffickers and those who stand behind them, as well as fighting any other negative phenomena, stressing that these actions are outside the customs of our people and national norms. And it harms the reputation, sacrifices and struggles of the camp. Therefore, the camp, united by all its factions and national and Islamic frameworks, decided to confront and stand up for anyone who begged himself to strike our society through this dangerous scourge, appreciating the security’s intervention and arresting a number of people, with an emphasis on continuing the security work with all seriousness in the camp and continuing until the elimination of the masses negative phenomena.
Adnan Ajarmeh, a member of the Popular Committee, pointed out the importance of pursuing and following up all negative phenomena in the camp and not limiting matters to a specific issue, stressing that there are negative phenomena that are increasing in Palestinian society and not in the camps and Aida camp, pointing out that the targeting of the camps to a higher degree as the title of the issue and fuel and stockpiles The Palestinian national struggle, pointing out that there are other urgent issues such as illegal vehicles and bicycles and some other issues that everyone must follow up.
In turn, Muhammad Lutfi, a member of the popular committee in the camp and the secretary of the Fatah movement in the camp, said that the movement agreed with the various national factions, institutions and events in the camp to eliminate negative phenomena, especially the phenomenon of drugs and its promotion, stressing that the campaign that was launched and included the arrest of the number of promoters and drug users is a first step in an ongoing and irreversible campaign.
Lutfi stressed the importance of continuing the campaign, especially by the Palestinian security services on the one hand, and the camp’s events, institutions and families, as the campaign will include holding awareness meetings and informing families about any of their members using or dealing in drugs for follow-up, in addition to communicating with the security in order to pursue and arrest the promoters.
In turn, Salah Ajarma said that Aida camp is being targeted, and what happened and is happening in it point to fingers and sides aimed at distorting the camp, stressing the importance of following up on what happened in all its details and prosecuting those responsible for targeting the camp. He also referred to the conditions of the camp and the importance of continuing to advance the reality in it and its various institutions.
For his part, Muhammad al-Masri, Secretary of the Fatah District in Bethlehem Governorate, said that we must all unite and neglect the solution to preserving the image and identity of the struggle camps, which some want to show other than their true image by settling them by engaging them in battles and calamities that do not take advantage of the conditions and conditions of our people, especially the youth of them. .
Al-Masry stressed the importance of the camps maintaining the positive and bright image that they have always enjoyed as the fortresses of revolutionaries and militants, noting that any security work must be related to the needs and combat negative phenomena, so that there must be a development plan and youth employment, as there is a high unemployment rate in the camp.
Al-Masry stressed that the Aida camp was and is an advanced model, adding that the camp’s people and activities want real communication that reduces the massive unemployment, stressing the importance of achieving this because there are efforts and attempts to implicate our youth and families. Implicating them so that work is done to get them out of their involvement on the one hand and to prosecute those who implicated them on the other side, stressing the importance of continuing to work and integrating roles between the security authorities and the camp activities, which also have a great role, starting with cooperation and communication and passing through the organization of awareness campaigns in institutions and schools and ending with addressing any negative phenomena In cooperation with security.
This meeting comes after the occurrence of events and burning of cars and the persecution of the people of the camp for a number of individuals known for the drug trade, and the Palestinian security services after that, the arrest of at least eight people in connection with these events, which occurred due to the increase in the phenomenon of drug trade and abuse, which called for the demands of activists, institutions, factions and the people of the camp to demand The security services should assume their responsibilities and implement a security campaign in addition to the societal campaign to uproot negative phenomena and behaviors.
